X-ray sCMOS camera with on-chip scintillator enables fast phase-contrast tomography

چکیده

For the recording of a fast tomogram a continuous recording mode is established. This enables the stepless measurement of projections over the full range of 360° in a specifi ed time (here 70 s, leading to 1994 projections in total) while the exposure time is kept constant at 25 ms. The high speed of 30 fps (full sensor resolution) and the high effi ciency of the detector, together with the high fl ux of the X-ray source, facilitate such small exposure times. The 3D volume is obtained from a phase retrieval, which uses the Bronnikovaided correction (BAC) algorithm [8], followed by a standard fi ltered back projection. Assessment of X-Ray Crosstalk in a Computed Tomography Scanner with Small Detector Elements Using Monte Carlo Method

Introduction: Crosstalk is a leakage of X-ray or light produced in a matrix of X-ray detectors or array of photodiodes in one element to other elements affecting on image contrast and spatial resolution. In this study, we assessed X-ray crosstalk in a computed tomography (CT) scanner with small detector elements to estimate the effect of various parameters such as X-ray tube voltage, detector e...

X-ray imaging with submicrometer resolution employing transparent luminescent screens

Microimaging techniques with synchrotron radiation demand fast, on-line x-ray detectors with a spatial resolution in the micrometer or submicrometer range. For this task an x-ray detector based on a transparent, i.e., nonscattering, luminescent screen has been developed. Its performance is described experimentally and theoretically. The detector consists of an Y3Al5O12 :Ce screen, microscope op...

Recent developments in X-ray imaging with micrometer spatial resolution.

X-ray detectors for imaging with a spatial resolution in the micrometer and submicrometer range have been developed at synchrotron radiation sources since 1996. The detectors consist of a scintillator, a light microscopy optic and a charge-coupled device (CCD). The scintillator converts part of the X-ray stopped by a material into a visible-light image which is projected onto the CCD by the lig...

Helical X-ray phase-contrast computed tomography without phase stepping

X-ray phase-contrast computed tomography (PCCT) using grating interferometry provides enhanced soft-tissue contrast. The possibility to use standard polychromatic laboratory sources enables an implementation into a clinical setting. Thus, PCCT has gained significant attention in recent years. However, phase-contrast CT scans still require significantly increased measurement times in comparison ...

X-ray phase-contrast microscopy and microtomography.

In-line phase contrast enables weakly absorbing specimens to be imaged successfully with x-rays, and greatly enhances the visibility of fine scale structure in more strongly absorbing specimens. This type of phase contrast requires a spatially coherent beam, a condition that can be met by a microfocus x-ray source. We have developed an x-ray microscope, based on such a source, which is capable ...
